TYPO3 Developer Days Karlsruhe 2025
Innovation, Code, and Community Spirit
From August 7 to 9, 2025, the TYPO3 community met at the GenoHotel Karlsruhe to code, learn, and network together. The TYPO3 Developer Days (T3DD25) are the annual highlight for TYPO3 developers, integrators, and open-source enthusiasts – whether new to the scene or deeply involved in the TYPO3 cosmos for years. In addition to exciting presentations, hands-on workshops, and inspiring sessions, the event offered one thing above all: lived community spirit.
Diverse Sessions
From Proven TYPO3 Practices to Looking Beyond the Horizon
The T3DD25 offered a balanced program of technical deep dives, practical how-tos, and inspiring insights into adjacent topics. Five categories provided a clear structure to the schedule and reflected the diversity of the community.
Backend UX and Editor Experience
The focus was on approaches to make editorial work in TYPO3 more efficient. This included sessions on a new, reliable configuration system, optimized workflows through targeted customization, and the possibilities of the dashboard in TYPO3 v14.
Standards and Best Practices
From new features in TYPO3 v13 to site packages and content blocks to security, APIs, and Fluid development – this category provided concentrated practical knowledge. The category was complemented by insights into core internals, smart file upload approaches, and experiences from professional development work.
Migration and Upgrades – How to and User Stories
This category offered concrete instructions and reports on TYPO3 updates. In addition to a hands-on session with Rector, learnings from over 100 completed upgrades were presented – valuable for anyone facing similar projects.
GenAI – Artificial Intelligence for Editors
This was all about the use of generative AI in TYPO3. From practical optimization strategies to AI-supported search to concrete practical examples from the AI Suite, there was inspiration for the editorial and development everyday life.
Beyond TYPO3
The view also extended beyond the CMS. Topics included security strategies, load testing, open-source usage, cloud infrastructure, or IoT. Soft skills, role understanding, and developer advocacy also found their place here, complemented by exciting insights into modern cybercrime methods.
Content Blocks – Deep Dive
In our technical deep dive into TYPO3 content blocks, we focused on data processing, the use of partials and layouts from our own extensions, and best practices for reusing existing fields. The goal: to fully exploit the potential of modern content elements.
Building a GenAI Extension – Insights from the AI Suite
Using the AI Suite, we were able to show how generative AI can be integrated into TYPO3 and what technical and conceptual challenges need to be considered. Our goal was to provide participants with practical insights into how AI can significantly ease the editorial daily routine.
More than just Sessions
Aside from the sessions, the T3DD25 offered a varied supporting program.
During the Coding Night, participants worked together on the TYPO3 core and extensions, while on Friday, certifications, a bowling tournament, and the TYPO3 Quiz Show were on the agenda. The event concluded with a Social Night in 80s style – an opportunity to wind down the three days in a relaxed atmosphere.
Conclusion
TYPO3 thrives on exchange – and there was plenty of it in Karlsruhe
The T3DD25 once again demonstrated how strong and committed the TYPO3 community is. From technical deep dives to practical tips to inspiring conversations – the Developer Days were a resounding success.
