Topic clusters (SEO)

The topic cluster analysis explores the topic space around a focus keyword. It fetches market data on the topic, breaks it down into subtopics and rates how well your page covers each subtopic. That way you find gaps before they show up as missing rankings.

1. The focus keyword is mandatory

Unlike the other analyses, the focus keyword is mandatory here. Without a keyword there is no topic for the AI Suite to build clusters around, and you get a corresponding note. If the analysis finds no cluster data, a broader keyword usually helps.

2. Structure of the result

For each subtopic you see the search queries behind it, the search volume and the coverage status (answered, partially answered or open) with a short assessment.

3. Turning gaps into content

For subtopics that are not covered there are two routes:

  • “Generate topic section (AI)” adds a new section to the audited page.
  • “Suggest as page tree” opens the page structure generation with a prefilled suggestion, one page per subtopic. You check and change the suggestion as usual before creating it.

The second route is worthwhile when a subtopic is too big for a paragraph and deserves a page of its own.
