Translation of XLF files

With the AI Suite, you automatically translate the XLF files of your extensions.

The following section explains the procedure step by step.

1. Where can I find the function?

To get to the input mask, follow these steps:

  1. Open the backend module “AI Suite”
  2. Switch to the “Agency” section (in a narrow view via the “More” menu)
  3. Select the option “Translate XLF file”
  • Show larger version The “Agency” section: The “AI Suite” module

In the backend module “AI Suite”, we choose the menu item “Agency” (in a narrow view via the “More” menu). There we click “Translate XLF file”.

2. Structure of the initial input mask

  1. Select the desired model for your translation of the XLF file
  2. Enter the extension key of the extension where your XLF file is stored
  3. Enter the name of your XLF file in the free text field “Insert default language file name” (e.g. locallang.xlf)
  4. Choose your target language
  5. Choose the translation mode: “Translate only missing items” or “Translate the whole file, overwrite existing translations”
  6. Start your translation
  • Show larger version Choose file and language: Model

We choose a model, enter the extension key and file name, choose German as the target language and the mode “Translate only missing items”.

3. Validate the results

After the translation, you validate the results and adjust them if necessary.

The validation mask is structured as follows:

  1. Translation labels
    1. Label in the source language as a heading
    2. ID of the label in parentheses
    3. Generated translation with the possibility of editing
  2. Button “Write translations to file system”
  • Show larger version Check the translations: Adjustable translation

Each label shows the source text, the ID in brackets and the translation, which can be adjusted right away.

4. View of the generated XLF file

Once you have clicked “Write translations to file system”, you find the translated file in the chosen extension under “Resources/Private/Language/”. The backend module also shows a success message.

  • Show larger version Write to the file: Write to the file system

With “Write translations to file system”, the translations go into the language file.
